Oso Electric Equipment has been busy for the past 2 years designing and building a brand new 21\u201d commercial-grade electric walk-behind lawn mower. We had our first working prototype ready in the summer of 2021, and after extensive internal testing we had an initial version of our production mower ready by the end of that year. We delivered mowers to our first customer shortly thereafter. We are now operating in select cities in two States \u2013 Texas and California, with plans to expand to additional locations in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Like so many other companies, we had to overcome tremendous obstacles due to COVID and the resulting supply chain constraints. Because of this, we made plans for limited production runs in 2022. However, we will be slightly exceeding those production goals by the end of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I can now safely say we have a fantastic product, and the customers who have used our mower absolutely love it. Since our mowers are Smart Mowers with a 4G connection, we are able to monitor both the health of the mower and its usage patterns. For example, in the past 3 months we have seen that our mowers are being used for significant periods of time with minimal down time, and this trend is only increasing. In other words, the landscape professionals who have taken a chance on switching to all-electric are choosing to use our mowers more often during their workday (and using their gas-powered counterparts less often).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A few years ago, we started down this path with two goals in mind. First, build a mower that is as durable and as powerful as a gas mower. Second, build a mower that needs minimal maintenance. I can now confidently say we have met or exceeded both our goals. Our mowers are consistently running for around 2-hours non-stop per battery, and they have very few maintenance issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unfortunately, our industry still lags significantly when it comes to electrification. By various estimates, less than 5% of landscaping equipment is electrified. We have a long way to go, and Oso is here to help drive this initiative forward. The good news is that an increasing number of States are implementing rebate and incentive programs to make it easier for landscapers to transition to electric equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Based on our market analysis, there is not a single mower in the industry today that is ready to challenge Oso when it comes to the power, runtime, and durability of our 21\u201d walk-behind lawn mower. I am extremely proud of my team for delivering such a well-built product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We have big plans for 2023, including a brand-new product that we will reveal later next year. For now, however, as you start making your equipment purchasing plans for the upcoming year, we strongly encourage you to consider going electric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
